South Lyon Junior League

Memorial Day Parade

It’s been a tradition that SLJL players and coaches march in the South Lyon Memorial Day Parade every year to show our gratitude to all the men and women who gave their lives so that we remain the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Once again, we are inviting all of our players and coaches to march in the parade on Monday, May 29, 2017. We gather at Bartlett Elementary at 8:30am. The parade leaves Bartlett Elementary at 9:00am. We march down Whipple Street to Pontiac Trail to 10 Mile Road to Reynold Sweets Parkway and to the South Lyon Cemetery.

Parents – decide with your child where you will meet them after the parade.  You can join them at the cemetery for the ceremony after the parade or they can wait for you in the church parking lot or the retirement home parking lot.

At the cemetery, our VFW Post hosts a beautiful ceremony, honoring all of our fallen soldiers. After the ceremony the VFW Post invites everybody to a hot dog lunch at the Post. (If you can help, they can always use extra hands.)

The South Lyon Junior League is partnering with HomeZone in Whitmore Lake. This organization provides housing for returning vets and gives them a hand getting back on their feet. We are accepting donations on their behalf. Details on the items needed can be found on our HomeZone page.

In addition, we are selling camo hats, t-shirts and sleeves with the profits going to HomeZone. If you’re interested, please visit our online store. Click here to visit our store.  Players, Coaches and Fans are encouraged to wear camo to your team’s designated Camo-Out Game. You are welcome to wear any camo that you already have our you can purchase something from our store.
